We enrolled in the Birth and Beyond Training program and discovered solutions to all the questions that had been lingering in our minds. I wholeheartedly endorse these trainings, particularly for first-time mothers and fathers. Karina and Louise possess remarkable expertise and go above and beyond to ensure your comfort throughout the process. Additionally, it's truly beneficial to connect with other expectant couples who are treading the same path as you.

My husband and I completed the birth preparation course this summer, and we both really enjoyed it. This course is an absolute must if you are new to Copenhagen and Danish healthcare system. Lots and lots of tips that we learned really did help us during pregnancy, labor and post partum. If you choose this course, prepare yourself for an exciting journey full of all sorts of lovely activities, that will help you and your partner feel more confident, learn how to support each other and work as a team during different stages of pregnancy, labor and parenting. As a bonus, you will definitely meet some amazing mamas- and papas-to-be!

My husband and I loved the birth and beyond course. We learned a lot about pregnancy, child birth and postpartum care and how my husband could be involved in all these phases. The activities planned during session by these lovely midwives made me and my husband bond stronger as a family. I really appreciated that! An added perk was that I met some amazing couples on the same journey as us and received/shared a lot of information and support with them through our pregnancies. 100 percent recommend this course!

Det har simpelthen været det bedste valg og oplevelse at føde hos de skønne jordemødre ude på klinikken.Ved hjælp af deres super gode fødselsforberedelse så fødte vi helt naturligt uden nogen form for smertestillende. Som første gangs fødende så blev vi taget godt i hånd af Iben gennem hele fødslen. Vi fødte i et af de fantastiske badekar som de har derude. We highly recommend Copenhagen Doulas to anyone expecting a child. We chose to both engage them to be our birth doulas as well as attend their Ready for Birth and Beyond course. Both Louise and Karina were an amazing source of support and guidance throughout the pregnancy and the birth of our child. They were there to answer all our questions and offer advice on everything from prenatal care to labour and delivery. We were quite worried about navigating the Danish health system during such an important time in our lives, but Louise and Karina put our minds at ease, equipping us with the information we needed. Participating in the course not only provided us with invaluable information but also gave us an opportunity to meet other parents-to-be who we could relate to and share experiences with. The individual meetings on top of the course that Karina and Louise provided as our birth doulas added a personal touch and gave us even more time to pick their brains! Knowing they were only a message or call away really put our minds at ease.Before the birth, we were guided through techniques for pain management as well ways to prepare the body and mind for birth. They helped with putting together the birth preferences in a way that resonated well with me but also worded appropriately for the hospital staff to understand clearly. Louise and Karina ensured that we knew what to expect from the hospital staff too, which meant we were well prepared with how to respond and to ask the right questions where necessary.During labour, we had Karina with us the whole time providing practical support and encouragement not only to me as the mother-to-be but also to the father-to-be. Whilst in the early stages of labour she worked through the different techniques we had learnt to help get me through contractions. Importantly, she gave us guidance on when it was the right time to head to the hospital. Once there, she helped advocate for us and made sure our needs were respected. We owe a great deal to her expertise, which helped everything go smoothly on the day. Their support continued after the birth with a postpartum check-in and keeping in touch afterwards to offer advice if needed. It’s so lovely that they are still interested in keeping in touch even after their services are officially over.We are so grateful to have had Karina and Louise as our birth doulas and would highly recommend them. We felt as if we just had a comforting arm around us through the whole journey and we cannot thank them enough for supporting us through such an important milestone in our lives!

When preparing for a birth, how can you prepare for the unexpected and have the resources in the toolkit to handle it?When we decided to find a doula, and ultimately chose Copenhagen Doulas we did so because we had absolute trust in their professionalism and commitment to a positive experience for mum, dad and baby. Helping us manage the pregnancy, prepare the body and mind for labour, and navigate the Danish healthcare system were also a huge plus for us as internationals.In the lead up to the birth Louise and Karina Isolde imparted invaluable guidance on breathing, massage and stretching, supplements, psychological preparation and advice of practitioners to help with third trimester aches and pains.What we couldn’t have known when we decided to work with Copenhagen Doulas, was just how essential they would become when our labour turned into an unplanned home delivery.Having them on call and only a quick bike away made all the difference between being professionally supported and left totally alone by the healthcare system. Louise advised over the phone and came straight away when she intuited labour was close and the hospital too far.It could have been scary, traumatic or dangerous, but we were in the safest hands, being coached through the pain through breathing and sound advice. We had total trust in our doula, that her judgement was best for all involved, and while it was unplanned, we had a healthy, natural and ultimately positive birth experience thanks to their presence and months of coaching and preparation.Post partum, the care continued and filled the gap that the healthcare system just cannot fill. Practical advice on breastfeeding, debriefing on the birth experience and advising on the mother's recovery too... this all contributed to a calm first few weeks as we transitioned into our life as parents. On a personal note, we really enjoyed our sessions with Louise and Karina Isolde. They instantly build rapport, take a genuine interest in you as individuals and a couple, and have an excellent sense of humour!We could never have anticipated we would require the support we did, but it was worth the investment. We can't even contemplate what would have happened to us and our baby or how our experience would have been without Copenhagen Doulas. As the birthing mother, my body was stronger, better prepared, and recovered so quickly thanks to all the great guidance provided. We are eternally grateful for the role they played in the safe arrival of our daughter, and have no hesitation in recommending them to be a part of your positive birth experience.Thank you Louise and Karina Isolde!
