Copenhagen Light Festival

The light festival is a great idea, unless the exhibit comes with shrieking “music” which plays over and over and over again starting at 6am right in front of your hotel. The exhibit in front of the Admiral Hotel is intolerable. Can they not turn the “music” off until at least 8am? It sounds like a horror movie.

We were a bit disappointed visiting the festival. The map we received at the tourist information is tiny and it’s printed on dark paper which makes it impossible to read in the dark outside. There are no signs or indications outside so we couldn’t find most works, except to really obvious ones (light as the church towers). Not was there a sight at the art works explaining a bit more about the works.Good initiative, many chances for improvement!

We were excited about the 45 minute canal tour for the CPH Light festival. Especially this year the lights were ‘aimed’ for the boat tours. Who lowered the quality bar for this?? Limited budget, no inspiration??? Come on Copenhagen (Stromma Canal tours), you can (and should) do better! To say we were disappointed is probably an understatement (rip off? because we wouldnt have done a boattour if not for the Light Festival?). Very meager light installations, no inspiration, hard to see. Most of the time we were wondering if the tour just took us along restaurants or boathouses that had already a LED-lamp Xmas string outside? The only ‘worthwhile’ installtion was The Wave, an ‘old’ one from previous festival.Promise to do better next time and we’ll come back. For this year: DON’T DO IT.
