This review is not about the japanese employees in the embassy at all but about the guy they hired to guard the door. All the other employees of the embassy are nice and helpful, both on phone and in person. I have only respect for these lovely people.I am very surprised how the guard treated me when I went to apply for a visa today d.6.10.23. On the first time upon my arrival, I stood by the door and waited to come in, he held the door and looked at me like I am weird person who is dangerous and needed to be kept out. He's so on my face and not polite at all in the way he talked to me. And then he asked me to go wait outside saying that the embassy has a lot of customers at that moment. And ofc I did so. While waiting, I noticed he didn't treat the other woman (a hispanic/danish/european looking woman) who came after me the same way he did to me. Much more friendly and casual. And he actually let her in, while I still had to wait outside. When he finally opened the door and let me in to get my stuff checked and myself body scanned, he talked to me like he's talking to a child or an imbecile, with no respect or decency at all. And when I finally went through the second door, I saw that there's basically no other people there, only a single woman who's already done with her turn, and packing her papers away. All the chairs were all unoccupied. Aside from the fact that the guard was unprofessional, I've never, in the time living in Denmark, experienced being discriminated before. And I definitely do not expect that kind of behavior from a person who is hired as a 'vagt' and is supposed to prevent other people from doing this kind of behavior.I will definitely send a complaint.

My experience with the Japanese Embassy has not been pleasant.Their website is full of unclear information and broken links. If my friend had not downloaded their required documents a week prior, I would not even have been able to attain them. After following all their steps carefully, they still needed specific information from my travel insurance, that was not stated on their website.Their staff is nice, but they are very understaffed. Prepare to wait in a queue for 75 minutes, and arrive at least 90 minutes before they close if you don't want to be rejected at the entrance.

The service provided is quite fast. The website is not so straight forward but if you contact them they will reply within a day with the info you need. When you arrive the security can be a little rude. I don’t think they mean it, but the way they communicate with people can come across a bit impolite. The collection process for the visas could be smother.

Efficient, as the Japanese usually are.I have to apply for Japan visa here two times because my passport is of the old variant (non-electronic, non-chipped) so I have to get the good old-fashioned visa to be able to enter the country.Fortunately, the visa reqs for the kind of people where I come from is lax, partially because we don't need visa in the first place if you have the new-normal chipped passport, and the visa fee is also very affordable at 160 kr (in 2016). Visa issued within 1 week, no fuss, no problems. They do have security measures to get into the embassy, with locking your electronics in the small lockers on the wall and getting through metal detector and having your bag x-rayed before you could get into the small room where you could meet the workers behind the glass. But hey, I have been to the US embassy, anything beyond that is no fuss imho.Hopefully I will get a chipped passport next time so I don't have to visit here again if I need a tourist visa, but just so you know, they do their work efficiently, unlike some others *ahem*
