Restaurant Koan
Probably a meal on our personal top 3 ever in Copenhagen! The last time we had a meal with balanced, fantastic flavours, exciting new aromatic combinations and a wine pairing that blew us away was at Geranium. This restaurant outperforms many Michelin stars restaurants we have been to!

One of the best dining experiences of this year. Definitely deserve their 2 stars.Tasty and inventive food, beautiful space, seamless service(I would recommend to go with a glass of champagne + bottle of wine, soju pairing is interesting but rather limited)

Food is both stunning - the interesting Korean style fits Copenhagen naturaly somehow. Several dishes were at the level of perfection in terms of taste and balance. It was a generous meal for fine dining - with plenty of wine too.The restaurant itself is design-deluxe from A to Z. Chairs are comfortable. There is handcrafted wood everywhere and beautiful funiture. The restrooms are painted in the most amazing blue colour etc.Staff is everywhere - and took well care of us throughout the entire evening. Overall, very wortwhile.

This place was a last minute change prior to our trip to Copenhagen and so glad we did. This was our first 17 course tasting menu experience with pairing, and we weren’t disappointed. We were informed by one of the Sommeliers, the history of Chef Kristian Baumann, and how he only started his concept, Koan in 2020 with a pop up. He finally moved to his new location in April and got his 2nd Star in 2023. We can see why. From the moment you are lead into the space,( and what an incredible space it is), we knew we were in for a dining experience like no other. This was a first for us, not known what was on the 17 course menu but we think it added to the experience. Now let me start by saying, throughout the 5 hrs, plus experience, the team at Koan, were engaging but not too intrusive, informative ( it appears everyone understands every dish, no matter who served it to the table), and offered where truly there to ensure you had an experience never to be forgotten.I will let the pics justify the evening, that words alone can’t. I might come back later to provide a more detail commentary.Truely worthy of its 2 star statusThank you Team Koan.

Restaurant Koan
Restaurant Koan effortlessly combines stunning aesthetics with a culinary journey that's nothing short of captivating. The beautiful dining room, inspired by Korean design, sets the stage for an extraordinary dining experience. Feel the mood change from dusk to night. Even before you step in you're greeted and led through the sliding door to be greeted by the chef or team. Chef-owner Kristian Baumann's talent shines through in every meticulously crafted dish on the tasting menu, showcasing Korean inspired flavours and techniques. Think of white kimchi served in refashioned bowls from the Qing dynasty or the use of Gamasot cast iron pots for cooking Korean rice. The open kitchen adds a layer of excitement as you watch the talented team at work. The service strikes the right balance between professionalism and ease, making the entire experience feel perfectly orchestrated. The mixed pairings are just as engaging with Copenhagen made Korean liquors and an array of complementing juices.

Restaurant Koan
Each bite at Koan tells a story of two cultures intertwined, echoing the beauty of collaboration and innovation between Chef’s Baumann’s native Korea and his upbringing country Denmark. Koan is a harmonious fusion of Nordic innovation and the warmth of Korean hospitality. From start to finish, dining at Koan is not just a meal, but an immersive journey that resonates with both heart and taste buds. Highly recommended for those seeking an unforgettable culinary adventure. Last but not least, lots of hidden gems on the wine list for both natural and classic wine lovers ! !

Restaurant Koan
