My experience at this dormitory has been conditioned by the issues with the fire alarm system. Despite claims of having resolved hypersensitivity problems after the first few months, the problem persisted. False fire alarms continued to be present, sometimes triggered by mundane occurrences like some excessive microwave smoke from overcooked food for just one minute more or excessive wattage, a forgotten fan left off while cooking or forgetting the open door while showeringBasically, the dorm doesn't have an internal alarm system that precedes the arrival of firefighters. When the fire alarm is triggered, it instantly alerts the fire brigade without providing any means to indicate that it's a false alarm. Consequently, the entire building is abruptly awakened even if there was just a bit of excessive but harmless smoke from the microwave or for a forgotten dood while showering. This situation is not only unexpected but also highly disruptive, especially considering that the contract I signed provided no indication of such a fire alarm structure. Moreover, it is also not efficient in terms of safaty given that it causes a lot of people not evacuating at all due to getting used to false alarmsIn this sense, the small dimension of studios is part of the problem. The fire alarms are positioned at significantly less than the typically recommended minimum threshold of 3 meters from cooking units to avoid false alarms, sometimes they are just around one meter from the stove/microwave.The dormitory management's response to the alarm issues has been far from ideal. In their communication they don't take responsibility for the situation because they claim that the hypersensitivity issues have already been solved time ago and they suggest that the alarm system is working well. However, they say that if you are cooking something that generates too much smoke you have to move to the common kitchen and open the window. The last month, in email communication, they shifted the blame onto individual tenants; this approach is not the most considerate towards customers that regularly pay high rentals and just increases the risk of tensions among tenants.Perhaps the most bewildering aspect of that is about penalties. The dorm claimed that the fire penalty charges them 6-7000 DKK for false alarms, and they said in an email that they were going to start recharging single tenants for fire brigade penalties. This is not outlined in the contracts and is strange to read, considering that the former Danish minister Carsten Hansen stated years ago that housing organizations cannot charge single tenants for blind alarms. The lack of clarity and the abrupt introduction of these charges are deeply concerning.I think that people should be warned about the place where they are going to live because it is not obvious to be in a situation like this one. A person that come to live here should not be scared while cooking because of the concern that slightly overcooking something or doing a minor non-hazardous distraction/mistake and causing the arrival of firefighters, the alert of all the tenants and possibly a 6000 dkk fine without any possibility of communicating the false alarm. It's not ok to come here without any expectation of this kind and finding yourself overblamed or even fined. While it's obviously important to be mindful while cooking to avoid safety hazards; in a long term tenance, a small non life threatening distraction like schorching something or generate a little too much smoke while the window is closed or forgetting to switching on a fan may happen and this shouldn't cause the automatic inevitable alert of the whole building and the firefighters as well as a fine that almost reaches the price of one month of rental. Or at least potential tenants should have been warned about these conditions before moving in.

Il problema dell'allarme antincendio che suona spesso ed anche di notte non è occasionale, ma si tratta di un fatto quasi quotidiano che infastidisce di giorno ed è intollerabile di notte. Non è accettabile pensare di continuare ad essere svegliati in piena notte dal suono dell'allarme. Le spiegazioni fornite non sono credibili, non è possibile che l'allarme si attivi così spesso per la minima presenza di fumo. Se si deve cucinare con la finestra aperta vado in campeggio e pago meno. Mi chiedo come mai il riposo, che è così importante per ricaricare le energie, venga poco rispettato e mi meraviglia che non ci sia un interesse comune di tutti i condomini a tutelare il diritto a dormire sonni tranquilli sia rispettando le regole antincendio sia pretendendo una soluzione da chi gestisce la struttura.

Staying in Nido Bryggen for 3 months and I love it! The facilities are so modern and in general the decoration and distribution of the areas is great! The room is perfect! It’s right next to the metro stop which is great because it’s just 2 stops away from the center. I highly recommend staying here!

- Unbelievable the lack of communication from their side when it comes to my deposit. Still waiting after I moved out two months ago, to get my deposit back. No reply from their side, to the point I’m seeking legal advice to get my money back. Other residents are dealing with the same issue. (Update: I got it back after 2,5 months )- Fire alarm went off at random hours of the days, disrupting people their sleep, studies or free time.- Left my kitchen utilities for 5h in a common kitchen, to found out cleaning staff threw away all my brand new stuff in the trash. ( Luckily management reimbursed my stuff after 2.5 months back and forth e-mailing).- Company portrays themselves with values such as sustainability and ecology, yet students weren’t allowed to donate stuff. The amount of brand new stuff you could find in the trash was outstanding. The usage of excessive and useless heating and electricity of the building also contradicts their values.- Their app claims Nido organizes weekly monday breakfasts and friday movie nights, never seen that happening.- When I moved in, I found cigarette butts in my window frame, a lot of dust, a leaking toilet, clogged hair in the bathroom and used toilet paper under my matress. Left over sauces in the fridge from the previous resident. For paying 8.600 DKK/month you expect atleast to be checked in a clean room.Positive remarks:- The rooftop is amazing.- Frontdesk was nice and polite and resolve quickly any problems that occurred during my stay.- The gym was small but effective.- The room was comfortable, black out curtains were the best, kitchen/bathroom were small but convenient.- I met some awesome fellow residents during my stay and Nido did organize a rooftop party once which was amazing.

I moved out in Jan 2023, it’s been 8 whole months and they still haven’t refunded me my full deposit of three months of rent. They’ve illegally held on to my deposit if $8900 DKK for EIGHT MONTHS now.Constant email ghosting and TERRIBLE communication. This manager Natalie has ghosted me numerous times on email. No professionalism whatsoever. Id give zero stars if I could.

I live here for 3 months now and have almost only negative things to report:When I moved into the room it was very poorly cleaned and the window full of spiders and spider webs. I immediately reported this to the reception. They laughingly acknowledged it and recommended that I buy cleaning products at Rema around the corner and clean it myself. What a welcome…There are also various deficiencies in the building:The fire alarm goes off almost every week. The smoke detectors are only a few meters from the hob. Therefore, the management prescribes that you can only cook with an open window. Especially now that it is getting colder not exactly pleasant.The disposal room is like a garbage dump, there is waste everywhere on the floor, the containers are constantly overflowing.The communal kitchens are just disgusting, everything is sticky and dirty, the smell is disgusting. The refrigerators are full of half moldy food.I have reported these problems to the management several times, each time they answered with excuses and blamed everything on the tenants.In addition:If you cancel your contract at the end of the month, you have to move out 14 days before the end of the month, but you still pay for the month in full. I wanted to shorten these 14 days to 11 days, because I have exams in that days. The management was absolutely uncooperative and dismissive. They argued that they need the entire two weeks to prepare the room for the next tenant. Two weeks cleaning time for a room of about 20m2?! Simply not credible.You can see that the management doesn't really care about the tenants and they just want to earn easy money....Can therefore not recommend Nido Bryggen at all...For the more than 9000kr you pay here you can find much better places in Copenhagen even at lower prices

Update to my previous reviewOver the last few weeks, I can see several positive changes to the building.1. Staff seem to be more proactive and helpful.2. Their emails and information is much better communicated that before. There are some great sustainability initiatives such as exchange of goods no longer required.3. The fire alarm frequency has also gone down.Cleanliness of the common shared spaces is still an issue.As a resident living here at NIDO there are several positive and negative experiences we’ve had.Positives1. New building which is well insulated. Comfortable and equipped with gym and laundry at a reasonable rate.2. Access to common areas such as study rooms and kitchen is great for students and professionals.3. Residents in the building are great, calm and peaceful.Negatives1. Cleanliness is a huge problem. I was told that there are cleaners 5 times a week. While there are cleaners, cooking areas and corridors remain dirty for weeks on end. Laundry areas have stuff lying in there for months on the end.2. Fire alarms go off twice a week and many times at odd hours creating unnecessary anxiety.3. Nido website has a lot of issues. It shows you are due a huge amount even when we’ve paid even. You have to keep checking to ensure what they are charging you for. Inconsistent information from front desk.4. Recently, the front desk staff is unhelpful and impolite. They are there only limited times and don’t respond in a helpful manner. They will shift the blame on you and expect you to follow up with different departments.5. Residents are on their own if stuck or need help.6. Some apartments are facing dust and air quality issues as they are facing construction sites so beware while choosing what direction your apartment faces.Overall, the building and facilities are good. However, unclear policies and borderline impolite front desk are a challenge.

Extremely unprofessional, incredibly bad communication. I moved out more than a month ago and still have not received any information regarding my deposit, even though I was told I would right after moving out. A week after moving out the manager called me if I indeed moved out and then wrote to me that she cannot find my move-out email and that there are personal belongings in my room, along with the question if the belongings are mine and if I gave my spare key to anyone. I forwarded her the move-out email and told her that I emptied the room completely and that I did not even receive a spare key. Since then, I have not heard back from either her or anyone at Nido despite at least 5 reminder emails. No one ever picks up the phone. They are only quick with responding to bad reviews.There is also a fire alarm probably at least once per week with an unbearable sound that goes on for around 10 minutes.You only receive one key and if you lock yourself out of your room outside of reception hours, you have to either call the security company and risk paying 1500 DKK for them to come unlock the door or wait for the security to do their regular checks which have no specific schedule so it's usually hours of wait.Common rooms are not really taken care of: the curtain instead of the door in the cinema room has fallen off, there are no darts at the dartboard or rackets at the ping pong table. Hallways smell like trash ever since a new garbage disposal system was installed.My friend had to stay his first night in a different room because his room was not ready yet, even though he notified them about the move-in date. His room did not have an oven, there was a problem with the bathroom door, and a chair was missing. It took many emails and weeks of waiting for them to come fix this.I would be able to live with most of this if it wasn't for such disrespect with the communication, or lack thereof. If you want peace of mind and getting your deposit back, go somewhere else.Me and plenty of other previous tenants are still waiting for our money back.
