The best Japanese food experience I have had in Europe.Expect traditional dishes of high quality but with an added Scandinavian touch and some surprising twists.While the food and impressive sake and wine slection is enough to warrant a visit it is the atmosphere and passion of the staff and founders that elevates the experience to one of the best in the city.Tip: Book a table at the bar and go with the 15 course menu as the extra dishes are some you don't want to miss.Highly recommended!

Reviews about high end / expensive restaurants are more challenging cause the expectations are so much higher.The food: we ordered a pescatarian variation of the tasting menu. The produce used is obviously of very high quality, but some of the dishes lacked depth and complexity. The standout pieces were the sashimi tuna cuts, and the sea bass/shiso and the langoustine yakitoris. In the main dish the grilled bonito was very nice but the rice and broth sides were meh.Kappo Ando has lovely staff, a great sake selection and a nice location but it was pretty cold and the timings of the dishes were also a bit off. Some things took a really long time.Overall I would be very happy to eat there many more times, but it is a pretty expensive restaurant and in that price range there are several other outstanding options in the city.

On our first night in Copenhagen my wife and I had the opportunity to dine at Kappo Ando. Despite being strangers to the area, we felt right at home at the restaurant. Despite having Michelin gourmand status, this restaurant without a doubt deserves a Michelin star. The tuna chashu was one of the best bites of my entire life.

Without comparison the most authentic high-end Japanese dining experience in Copenhagen, if not northern Europe. Everything was spot on and the service was great. We had the set menu and asked the owner to recommend us sake throughout our dining experience.The hatsumoto yakitori was the surprise of the evening. Something I’d never order ala carte, but am thankful to have been introduced to.

Absolutely an amazing experience - like every single dish, beautiful environment and amazing storytelling and service. You can only have the menu at this place - but definitely also worth the experience. If you are expecting an authentic Japanese experience, you will find quite a few differences but the cooking method is surely authentic. I like the way that Nordic ingredients and combinations are put into play at this place.
